Charles Bronson on Deal or No Deal!

Deal or No Deal is one of those simple game shows that captures the imagination.
The original, UK version is on Channel 4 each day and features that evergreen presenter Noel Edmonds and 22 red boxes. The lucky person picked from the 22 hopefuls has to pick a red box, one at a time, which is then opened, revealing a sum of money from 1p up to £250k.
As the boxes get opened, a mysterious character called The Banker telephones Noel with offers of cash to buy the contestant's box. The offers vary depending on what cash sums are remaining. At each offer the contestant is asked, "Deal, or no deal?" If they deal they get the cash being offered at that time........ but then go on to play as they would have done to see what cash value is in their box.
If they say "No deal", the offer is withdrawn and they carry on opening the boxes. The Banker's offers vary, depending on the sums of cash remaining, and so it's important to deal at the right time....or carry on to the end and open all the boxes.

Ingeniously simple, but incredibly watchable. Almost adictive!
Now, the reason I'm blogging about DOND is because of the contestant who's game it was yesterday. His name was Geoff, pretty unremarkable in itself, but who does he remind you of?........

Need a hint?

That's right!! Charles Bronson.

The likeness wasn't lost on Noel Edmonds either. Apparently this guy has had comments about his likeness to CB for the last 25 years!

There were the enivitable jokes about the his box (number 12) being the Dirty Dozen box and did he want to go on "for a few dollars more?!"

So, what was Geoff's (or Charles') game like. Did he walk away with £250k?
At this stage things are looking pretty shaky. The £250k has already gone and the only 2 red amounts left are the £75k (not bad) and the £5k (better than a poke in the eye I guess!).

The offers from the Banker reflected the poor state of the board with £9k being his highest offer.

Geoff battled on....... but left it too late. The final 2 boxes looked like this..........

So what did Goeff go home with? £5 or £750?

What do you think?

Yes, you're right. £5!!

I almost cried! Oh well, perhaps he had a Death Wish!!
