Emigrating to Canada?

Alison and I are seriously thinking of emigrating to Canada.
The UK is getting tired and with a population of over 60 million is an overcrowded, dirty and increasingly antisocial place to live.
The "me me me" culture is an ugly one which shows no sign of changing.
We've never been to Canada, but I think you can get a pretty good idea of the culture of a country by looking at its websites.
The idea of better opportunities, better lifestyle, amazing countryside and cities is really appealing.
Mainland USA doesn't really appeal as it comes over as being brash, hard and not so friendly. Canada comes over as being softer and friendlier. Its French connections promises to add a European flavour.

The photo slide show above was on YouTube and features Vancouver (BC) on the west coast. Looks pretty amazing.

All I need to do is sort out a job before we move!!

  1. Jumping over the pond is a big move and perhaps you should 'try before you buy'. I have been here for some twelve years now and I remember the first couple of years as being testy. There are a few adjustments to make as things don't always go the way you expect or work the same way.

I love the quality of like and so do many other Brits that live here. The winters can be hard, cold and long. Taxes are the biggest shock as they are very high. Overall I still think that I get more for my buck! Come take a look.

  2. I know a Canadian.
    She was lovely.
    Then turned psycho.
    Just a warning.

    Hahaha, seriously though, sounds awesome.
