Heikki Kovalainen escapes serious injury after 140mph crash!

Heikki Kovalainen appears to have escaped serious injury after crashing heavily in to a tyre barrier on lap 22 of the Spanish Grand Prix.
The Finn’s McLaren ran off the road at the 140mph turn nine after something broke on the left-front his MP4-23 car.
His car went straight off across the gravel at unabated speed (180mph) and buried into the tyre barrier, with the impact causing heavy front-end damage to the monocoque.
The medical car was immediately deployed and Kovalainen gave a thumbs up and was seen moving his leg as he was stretched away to the medical centre.
After receiving a check-up by doctors at the circuit, he was taken to a hospital in north-west Barcelona by helicopter for precautionary checks for concussion.
McLaren CEO Martin Whitmarsh told ITV Sport's Louise Goodman that first checks showed the Finn had sustained no serious damage and the team expected him to be fine.
"There are no visible injuries, he has obviously banged his head and as precaution he has now been flown to hospital to check on the concussion," Whitmarsh said.
"He was complaining that he had hit his elbow, but that is quite normal and there were no serious signs of any other serious injuries.
"So that is good news and I'm sure when they have checked him out he will be back fit and well very soon."
Replays of the incident showed some failure on the left-front of the car which caused his tyre to buckle, sending him across the gravel.
McLaren boss Ron Dennis told ITV Sport's Ted Kravitz that the team's initial prognosis for the cause of the accident was that a stone or debris may have got between the wheel rim and the tyre to cause the blow-out.
At the time of the crash, Kovalainen had just inherited the lead of the race after the leading five runners had just made their first pit stops.
