Sky...throttling Broadband - or is it BT?

When you sign up for broadband I guess it's pretty much like a marriage. You're often tied in for the long haul....and if you want to leave it's going to cost you a lot of money!!
So, choosing the right package is quite important...... so beware of the product called Sky Broadband Connect!


You might think you're getting a Sky product, using the latest digital technology.....but you'll be wrong. Because you're on Sky BB Connect this means you're outside the Sky network and you're on the good ol' BT network....using technology which is 10 years old!! It's what they call a "re-badged" product.





Not only are you being sold a second hand product, you also run the risk of having your broadband speed cut back, or throttled, during "peak" times (1700hrs to midnight).
What does this mean? Well, for me it has meant a normal stable speed of 3.3Mbs being reduced to less than 1Mbs.

If you look at your Sky "small print" you will see this is a clear Sky network management policy - yet when you phone them, asking what's going on, they blame it onto BT!!
I think it's a case of "TalkTalk....here I come!!"
